Automated Alerting Applications
Alerting applications are used to deliver messages to concerned parties when the status of a monitored object changes. Some examples of such applications are:
- Applications that call when a stock reaches a target price.
- Applications that notify service personnel when something breaks or stops working.
- Applications that deliver notifications to salespeople when new sales leads or prospects are calling.
Regardless of the situation, the basic procedure for developing an alerting application is as follows:
- Create an application that performs the monitoring service using a tool like Visual Basic, Excel, or some other application development tool.
- Integrate into the monitoring application Active Call Center outbound dialing to use when alerts are required. For a discussion of the outbound dialing features in Active Call Center, refer to the chapter on Outbound Calls.
Warning: read the license agreement carefully, Active Call Center is not designed for use in high-risk environments that require fail-safe performance (for example, nuclear reactors).
