How to Start Monitoring Automatically on Power-Up

Many users will want Active Call Center to start call monitoring when the computer is powered up. This feature can be implemented by using a command line option and adding Active Call Center to the "Startup" group.

The command line option for starting the software automatically in monitoring mode uses the following syntax:

Active Call Center.exe "C:\Full Path Name\My Call Tree.acc" -a

The -a at the end of the command indicates that the program should automatically start the Call Monitor. Note the name of the Call Tree is fully qualified, includes the .acc extension, and is enclosed in quotation marks.

To automatically start Active Call Center when the computer is rebooted, add Active Call Center to the Startup group as follows:

Click Start ... Settings ... Taskbar & Start Menu from the Windows Taskbar.

At the Taskbar Properties window, click the Start Menu Programs tab and click Advanced.

In the left pane of the window, click on the Programs folder.

In the right pane of the window, double click on the Startup folder (create a Startup folder if necessary).

In the right pane of the window, right click again and choose from the menu New ... Shortcut.

You will be shown a Create Shortcut window, enter into the Command line field:

"C:\Program Files\Active Call Center\Active Call Center.exe" "C:\Program Files\Active Call Center\Examples\Internet Weather.acc" -a

Note: substitute the name of the Call Tree to use as appropriate and change the path names if the Active Call Center installation was performed in something other than the default location.

Click Next> and when prompted for the name of the shortcut, type Active Call Center Startup and click Finish.

Test the startup shortcut by clicking on it. If Active Call Center starts with a blank screen, make sure that the filename and path are exactly correct and enclosed in quotes and that there are no accidental trailing spaces after the -a.

Automatic starting of the call monitor can also by accomplished by using Windows Task Scheduler. For more information, refer to the section on How to Schedule Monitoring and Dialing Tasks.
