The first time Active Call Center is started it will test your modems and telephony hardware for compatibility. You can also run a modem test yourself by choosing Tools... Test Modems from the Active Call Center menu bar.
During the modem test, Active Call Center will attempt to open each potential telephony device on your system. Once a device is successfully opened, Active Call Center will test the device for voice and touch tone capability. Active Call Center will report at the bottom of the test whether or not any compatible telephony devices were found in your system.
The reports of the modem test usually give excellent guidance on the prospects of your modem or telephony card working with Active Call Center. However, positive results cannot guarantee compatibility: the test only indicates that the telephony device(s) could be opened and support for voice and touch tone interaction was available.
The performance of voice modems and other telephony devices is very sensitive to the hardware configuration. If there are any device conflicts or improperly assigned port addresses for your modem or telephony card, you may experience erratic and inconsistent behavior despite a successful modem test.
